All of our advanced, leading edge production sites in Asia, Europe, and the USA are strategically situated: they are close to our customers and have access to highly qualified workforces. We also profit from each site’s particular advantages: in Europe and the USA, we capitalize on competitive power costs, while the low personnel costs are attractive in Singapore.
Our largest production capacities are concentrated in Singapore. The production plants for 200mm and 300mm wafers located there are among the most modern and largest worldwide. Our production site in Freiberg, Saxony, is also designed for volume production of 300mm wafers.
Our global presence allows us to respond to customer inquiries from anywhere in the world in less than 24 hours. Our on-time delivery performance, the flexibility enabling us to respond swiftly to changes, and our local, technically experienced contact persons guarantee excellent customer service.
The origins of Siltronic’s traditional site in Burghausen span a period of more than 50 years. Here, at the largest chemical site in Bavaria, Siltronic’s success story began in 1953 with the production of the first high-purity silicon crystal, with a diameter of just 10mm. Today, in Burghausen in southeastern Bavaria, monocrystals are pulled and silicon wafers with diameters up to 300mm are manufactured for customers across the globe.
The core of the company’s innovation capabilities is also at home in Burghausen: our central research and development area is working on the further development of products, processes, and measurement methods in order to transform our customers’ technological demands into the next wafer generation.

Our site in Freiberg in Saxony, tracing its origins back to nationally owned Spurenmetalle Freiberg that was founded in 1957, is one of the cradles of silicon production. In 1963, the first silicon crystal was pulled here, positioning the former company as one of the world’s trailblazers in the microelectronics success story.
Since 1996, continuous investments have been committed to the Freiberg, creating the world’s most advanced, leading edge production lines for 300mm monocrystals and for 300mm wafers. At present, around 800 people work at the Freiberg plant.
Situated close to the high-tech location Dresden, today’s Siltronic Freiberg is part of Saxony’s “Silicon Valley” and one of the founding members of what has meanwhile advanced to one of Europe’s largest industry networks, Silicon Saxony e.V. Not only is Siltronic Freiberg one of the region’s most important employers, it also interacts closely with TU Bergakademie Freiberg, the world’s oldest mining engineering university.

The production facilities - established in Portland, Oregon in the USA in 1979 and expanded in 1996 - were Siltronic’s first international site. While the site originally supplied the American market, it has meanwhile evolved to become one of the main suppliers of competitive silicon wafers in semiconductor quality on the world market.
In Portland, around 320 employees produce 200mm wafers on the basis of silicon crystals grown in the German Siltronic sites. The focus is on the complex manufacturing processes for polished and epitaxial wafers.
Portland applies the highest standards in wafer manufacturing, while also following an agenda where environmental protection, resource management, and sustainability top the list. Leading institutions and environmental organizations have multiply awarded Siltronic Portland for this commitment over the past years.
Our largest and also most advanced, leading edge production capacities are concentrated at the Singapore site.
Siltronic Singapore Pte. Ltd. was founded in 1997. This is where 200mm made of high-purity silicon are manufactured.
Siltronic Silicon Wafer Pte. Ltd. started production in 2007. We manufacture 300mm wafers and 300 ingots at this site.
The Siltronic manufacturing facilities are currently amongst the world’s most modern. Drawing on sophisticated information and automation technology, the facilities produce wafers with single wafer history tracing.
The site spreads out over more than 120,000 m² - ensuring that Siltronic Singapore is well positioned as a regional production center within the Siltronic production network. Today, the wafers manufactured in Singapore are not only shipped to customers in the region, but all over the world.
