Siltronic Singapore: One of the most modern and efficient wafer production facilities celebrated its 10th anniversary

Siltronic AG recently celebrated the 10th anniversary of its 300 millimeter wafer production at the Singapore site. The subsidiary Siltronic Silicon Wafer Pte. Ltd. Singapore was founded in 2007 together with the Korean conglomerate Samsung, under a joint development agreement. Since 2014, the majority of the company has been owned by Siltronic AG.

"In Singapore, we operate one of the world's most advanced production facilities for high-quality 300-millimeter wafers. We congratulate all employees for the great work of the past 10 years and are confident that the next 10 will be just as successful," explains Dr. Christoph von Plotho, CEO of Siltronic AG.

Silicon wafers from Siltronic form the basis of modern micro- and nanoelectronics and are therefore a key component in semiconductor chips. These are used in information technology, the automotive industry, medical technology and other industrial applications. Megatrends such as digitalization, automation and electrification are driving demand for semiconductor chips and silicon wafers. In addition to more powerful storage technologies, the exciting future fields include topics such as e-mobility, autonomous driving, virtual reality (VD) and artificial intelligence (AI).
